Annapolis Heritage Society | Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia

Our Holdings

The genealogy collection of the Annapolis Heritage Society is focused on families who have lived in the area encompassed by the early townships of Annapolis, Granville and Clements.

Most of the collection is devoted to those English-speaking families of Planter, Ulster-Scots, Yorkshire and Loyalist heritage who supplanted the French Acadians after 1755 and make up the vast bulk of the population today.

Because of the area’s early history as Port-Royal and its central role in Acadian society pre-1755, AHS is attempting to broaden its collection of pre-Expulsion Acadian material.

The genealogy collection also contains limited resources on families of M’ikmaw and Black Loyalist descent. We welcome relevant additions to the collection. Much of the primary source material is on microfilm.
