Grand Opening: Croscup Painted Parlour Exhibit with special guest Ernest Dick

July 29, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Open 5:30-8:00 pm
Croscup Presentation 6:00pm

The Annapolis Heritage Society invites you to join us for a special after hours session at the iconic Sinclair Inn. Immerse yourself in 300 years of history and architecture by visiting this unique National Historic Site, which reflects the preservation and conservation of the earliest surviving Acadian building in Canada.

The Croscup Painted Parlour travelling exhibit is now upstairs next to the Sinclair Inn’s own Painted Room. Experience this beautiful room, considered an outstanding example of Pre-Confederation Canadian interior decorative painting, now housed at the National Gallery of Canada. Ernest Dick will be in attendance to speak to his experience developing the exhibit and its broader importance to Nova Scotia’s artistic heritage.

The Annapolis Heritage Society is proud to share the story of the Croscup Painted Parlour throughout the 2022 Summer season. Visit the Sinclair Inn to learn about this fascinating part of our local heritage, view the artwork and speculate on the artist’s identity. The exhibit offers a compelling theory regarding who this may have been.

*Special thanks to the Annapolis Region Community Arts Council for the loan of display panels used in this exhibit*
