Family Workshop Series

Experience the wonderful works of art at North Hills Museum and share unforgettable moments with your children as they discover their own creativity in the studio workshops. For budding artists 5 – 14 years of age accompanied by an adult.
Cost per child: $5.00 for each workshop: includes museum visit and all materials. Advance registration required.

“Beacon of Light” Lighthouse Workshop
Nova Scotia has the largest number of lighthouses in Canada, with more than 160 to visit. Learn about the history and different styles found within our province and community. In our studio construct and paint your very own lighthouse.

“A Mixed Bag of Sculpture Part 1” Clay Cast Cameo & Statuette Workshop
Find out the story behind the sets of travel souvenir cameos at North Hills and cast you very own set using soft paste clay. Afterwards, be inspired by the museum statuette collection and learn about structure and stability when creating movement in a figure; then, create a clay statuette reinforced with wire framework. (cameos and statuettes will require a few days to dry)

“A Mixed Bag of Sculpture Part 2” Clay Cast Cameo & Statuette Workshop
Make a travel souvenir box for your set of cameos, creating an edition. Paint your statuette to look like a bronze sculpture; ready for installation at our fall exhibition.
