John Weatherspoon will, 14 May 1787

In the Name of God Amen the Fourteenth Day of May in the year of our Lord God 1787, I John Weatherspoon of Granville in the County of Annapolis & province of Nova Scotia Farmer, Being Weak in Body But in Perfect Mind & Memory Thanks Be given unto God therefore Calling unto Mind the Mortality of my Body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Die, Do make & ordain This My Last will & testament that is to say Principally and first of all I give & Recommend my Soul inyo the Hands of God that gave it & for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be Burid in a Christian like Manner at the Discretion of my Executor Nothing Doubting But at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the Same again By the Mighty Power of God & as touching Such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to Bless me in this Life I give bequeath & Dispose of the same in the following Manner & form~ I give to my well Beloved SonJames Weatherspoone twenty Rods on the East Side of my Lott Beginning att the High way & Runing Back as far as what is call’d Reeds field & then fifteen (----) Lott to always Except the Burring yard and that to Be kept fens’d in & the Rest of My Lott I give to My well Beloved SonsJoseph & John. I also (----) to my Daughter Rose one cow in one Mounth after my Death~ I also give my 3 Well Beloved Daughters one Sheep & Lam a Peace in 2 Mounths after my Death~ My Chest of Drawers I give To my Daughter Wade. I Do Likewise constitute Make & ordain my son James Weatherspoone to be my only & sole Executor of this My last will & Testament~ In witness whereof I have hearunto Set My Hand & Seal the Day and year Above written.
