Archives
An archive is a collection of historical records containing primary source documents and/or photographic images deemed worthy of preservation for their enduring cultural, historical or evidentiary value. These are normally unpublished and unique records.
Title page of journal dated 1759, covering Jacob Bailey’s trip from Boston to England for ordination. Following the American War of Independence he came to Annapolis Royal as a Loyalist refugee and was Anglican minister here until his death in 1808.
An archival accession register begun in 1988 records our holdings which are organized into three main categories: family records, public records and business records. Family records describe material commonly collected for personal or family use. Public records include those of school, church, government, club and community organizations. Business records consist of the records of commercial concerns.
Plans are in the works to create a searchable database of our holdings.

Our archival holdings are available for research by appointment only as they are stored off-site.
