Family Workshop Series

Experience the wonderful works of art at North Hills Museum and share unforgettable moments with your children as they discover their own creativity in the studio workshops. For budding artists 5 – 12 years of age accompanied by an adult. Cost per child: $5.00 for each workshop: includes museum visit and all materials. Advance registration required. 532-2168

“Look at Me” Self Portrait painting: Sunday July 10, 2011 • 1:00 – 4:00 pm

Discover the many mysteries behind the portraits at North Hills Museum. Learn about expression, costume, and lighting; then, in the studio, paint your own self portrait that tells your story.

“Busted” Sculpture workshop: Sunday August 7, 2011 • 1:00 – 4:00 pm

Find out the story behind different sculptures in the collection. Examine the various techniques that sculptors use to demonstrate expression and movement; then, create your own sculpture bust in “air dry” clay.

“Printmaker” Print making workshop: Sunday September 25, 2011 • 1:00 – 4:00 pm.

Learn the difference between an etching and a drawing, uncover methods of basic printmaking, and create your own series of prints.

North Hills Revisited: Family Workshop Exhibition: October 2–8 at Arts Place in Annapolis Royal

The public is invited to attend a showing of art works created by the young participants in the Family Workshop Series at North Hills Museum. Opening reception October 2, from 1 pm to 3 pm.
