Discover the history of this form of travel and view some typical examples of “Grand Tour” souvenirs found in the collection at North Hills Museum. \nThe Royal Academy at North Hills: Tuesday October 11\, 2011 • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm\, or 1:30 – 3:30 pm. \nFounded by King George III in 1768\, the Royal Academy of the Arts raised the position of artists through education and opportunities to exhibit their work. During the Georgian Period (1714-1830)\, some of the most famous members included Sir Frances Chantrey\, George Chinnery\, Francis Cotes\, John Hoppner and George Morland\, all for you to discover at North Hills Museum. \nGroups: If your group is interested in having its own “Salt Box Talk” at North Hills Museum\, please call 532-2168.

SUMMARY:Preserving a Legacy – Artifacts from the Runciman House
DESCRIPTION:Built in 1817 for Reverend John Milledge\, the Runciman House has often been described as one of the prettiest houses in Nova Scotia because of its “Regency Cottage” architecture. Owned since the 1970s by the Heritage Canada Foundation\, it is one of the last residences in Annapolis Royal to maintain a long-term connection to one of its original families. Prior to their selling of the house in 2009 to private owners\, the Heritage Canada Foundation board very generously donated the collections held at the Runciman House to the Annapolis Heritage Society. \nPreserving a Legacy: Artifacts from the Runciman House is our wonderful exhibit showcasing artifacts and archival images which chronicle over 175 years of one family’s life in Annapolis Royal. It is open at the O’Dell House Museum now until late July.
