DESCRIPTION:Our beloved and much anticipated celebration of the colour and simplicity of Christmas at the end of the Victorian era is taking place again this year at the O’Dell Museum. As usual\, our journey back to the holidays of a different time will be held over two weekends. \nThe festivities take place from 7 to 9 pm on both Friday\, November 30 and Saturday\, December 1. On December 2you can visit from 2 pm to 4 pm. \nThe museum will also be open Friday\, December 7 and Saturday\, December 8 from 7 pm to 9 pm. Mr. Patterson’s collection includes fine examples of the styles created by these gifted cabinetmakers. Join us as we examine the characteristics of these exquisite pieces of furniture. \nThe Grand Tour: Tuesday September 27\, 2011 • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm\, or 1:30 – 3:30 pm. \nYoung English elites of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries often travelled Europe in an effort to broaden their horizons and learn about language\, architecture\, geography\, and culture. Discover the history of this form of travel and view some typical examples of “Grand Tour” souvenirs found in the collection at North Hills Museum. \nThe Royal Academy at North Hills: Tuesday October 11\, 2011 • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm\, or 1:30 – 3:30 pm. \nFounded by King George III in 1768\, the Royal Academy of the Arts raised the position of artists through education and opportunities to exhibit their work. This festival is your chance to meet some of the craftspeople\, storytellers and other caretakers of our community’s unusual history. \nPay special attention for Wilfrid Cartier who refers to himself an “Uncle of Confederation”.
